Hello,
Here are the results of an informal poll of our fourth grade students. Interesting data I must say!!
How many of you have your own cell phones? 17 out of 44
How many of you have your own laptop? 7
How many of you have access to the Internet? 41
How many of you have a Nintendo Wii? 22 half of our class
Play station 3? 6
Play station 2? 16
Nintendo Cube? 13
XBox 360? 12
PSP? 15
DS? 28
GameBoy? 30
How many of you play Club Penguin? 15
How many of you play Webkinz? 32
The students got all fired up and start shouting out different websites and games that they love to visit.
What does this have to do with reading?
Everything!

What is club penguin?! You guys are cooler than me :)
I got this survey from Jeff Utecht's, The Thinking Stick Blog. I was curious as to what my students do at home on the internet, so I asked "How many???" I have no idea what Club Penquin is - but my students sure do!!
I knew kids these days were connected but I had no idea how connected! I'm going home tonight to see what club penguin is. :)
Can't wait to see other surveys you'll do this year.
Very interesting survey. Thanks for sharing. My son has a playstation2 and has participated in webkinz. Like many parents we try to set and monitor careful limits on frequency and length of time for game access as well as the content. As an instructional designer by trade, I'm fascinated by the possibilities for learning and creative outlet afforded by video games, but also as a parent have questions at times about the possible effects of video gaming on the character and cognitive discipline development of my child. Anyway, would welcome comments from other parents, or from teachers, regarding this topic.
